A fungal infection of the groin which causes an itchy rash. The infection is contagious and the risk is increased by wearing tight-fitting or damp underwear. The condition is more prevalent in warm, humid climates. Tinea cruris is more common in males and often results from spread of a fungal foot infection e.g. through use of towels to dry both areas.
