Glossary for Scurvy

Aches: General body aches or muscle aches
Alcoholism: Alcoholism is the compulsive urge to drink alcohol despite knowing the negative impact on one's health.
Anemia: Reduced ability of blood to carry oxygen from various possible causes.
Avitaminosis: A group of diseases caused by the deficiency of one or more vitamins e.g. Beriberi (thiamine deficiency), rickets (Vitamin D deficiency), pellagra (niacin deficiency), pernicious anemia (Vitamin B12), bleeding (vitamin K deficiency) and night blindness (avitaminosis A). Symptoms depend on the type and degree of vitamin deficiency. Lack of various vitamins can affect just about every part of the body including the nervous system.
Bleeding symptoms: Any type of bleeding symptoms.
Dysentery: A general term for various bacterial digestive disorders.
Genu varum: The presence of bowed legs - knees are apart and ankles are together while standing. Causes of the anomaly include certain intrauterine positions, rickets and various bone disorders.
Haemolytic anaemia:
Internal bleeding: The loss of blood internally from the circulation
Iron deficiency: When there is a deficiency of iron in the body
Iron deficiency anemia: Iron-deficiency anemia is a blood condition characterized by low levels of iron in the body which leads to a reduction in the number of red blood cells.
Irritability: Excessive feelings of annoyance or frustration.
Osteoporosis: Bone thinning and weakening from bone calcium depletion.
Pathological fracture: The occurrence of a fracture a bone of the body caused by a disease state
Poor healing: When a wound takes a prolonged time to heal
Splinter haemorrhages: splinter hemorrhages are small areas of bleeding under the fingernails or toenails
Tiredness: Feeling tired either physically or mentally
Vitamin C deficiency: Indequate vitamin C in the diet
Vitamin deficiency: When there is any deficiency of vitamins in the body
Weakness: Symptoms causing weakness of the body
