High incidence of brain tumours and lung cancer amongst people with mental illness is explained

An Indian University claims to have discovered that brain tumours and lung cancers are more prevalent amongst people with mental disorders. The higher incidence of lung cancer can be explained by the fact that people with mental illnesses tend to smoke more. The higher incidence of brain tumours can be explained by the fact that brain tumours possible produce mental symptoms before more obvious neurological symptoms. The mental symptoms can begin up to a year before the brain tumour is diagnosed. Thus, sudden onset of mental illness needs to be carefully diagnosed.
