Baby boy dies from bacterial meningitis

A six week old baby boy died recently from meningitis in Ireland. He was one of four children admitted to hospital suffering from bacterial meningitis. Parents need to be aware of the symptoms which include fever, muscle pain, joint pain, drowsiness, headache, stiff neck, vomiting, rapid breathing, cold hands, cold feet and a rash. Babies will also often have a bulging area on top of their heads and pale or blotchy skin.
