Asbestos causes a range of related diseases

Currently 3,000 UK people die for asbestosis and it is expected that by 2020 about 10,000 per year will die. Symptoms can take 40 years after exposure to asbestos to show. Symptoms include shortness of breath when active, persistent cough, chest pain, nail abnormalities and thickening of fingers and toes. Other asbestos related diseases include cancer and mesothelioma.
