Transfer factor: (1) the transfer gene of a conjugative plasmid, especially of the resistance plasmid; (2) a dialyzable extract that is obtained from the leukocytes of a person with a delayed-type sensitivity and that, after injection into the skin of a nonsensitive person, transfers the specific sensitivity to the recipient; (3) SYN: elongation factor.
