Description of Segmental arteries of liver

Segmental arteries of liver: [TA] anterior and posterior segmental arteries arising from the right branch of the hepatic artery, and medial and lateral segmental arteries arising from the left branch of the hepatic artery; the segmental arteries serve four of the five major divisions of the liver, and then branch in turn so that each hepatic segment receives an independent blood supply. SYN: arteriae segmenti hepaticae.
