Minor salivary glands: [TA] the smaller, largely mucus-secreting exocrine glands of the oral cavity, consisting of the labial, buccal, molar, lingual, and palatine glands; unlike the major salivary glands, the minor salivary glands, secrete continuously. SYN: glandulae salivariae minores [TA].

Minor salivary glands (organ): The minor salivary glands are one type of a variety of salivary glands and exocrine glands. The minor salivary glands include about 600 tiny glands found throughout the mouth and palate. The function of the minor salivary glands is to produce and excrete the saliva and mucus needed for chewing and digestion.
Conditions that afflict the minor salivary glands include tumors, infections, denture irritation and salivary gland neoplasm.
