Crisscross heart (medical condition): A rare congenital heart defect where the heart appears to be twisted along its longitudinal axis so that the left atrium and the right ventricle are closer to each other than normal as is the right atrium and the left ventricle. Despite this anomaly, most hearts are still able to function normally depending on the severity of the anomaly. However, most cases have other associated heart defects which can affect heart function.
