May-Hegglin Anomaly: A rare inherited blood disorder involving abnormalities in some of the blood components (platelets and certain leukocytes). Some patients develop bleeding problems whereas other remain asymptomatic.

The prognosis is variable with the severity of bleeding symptoms being variable. The biggest danger is complications arising from excessive bleeding resulting from surgical or dental procedures or from a severe physical trauma. Care needs to be taken to avoid medications such as aspirin that can reduce platelet function. Many patients also have problems with hearing at high frequencies and tend to develop cataracts.
