Glossary for Greig Cephalopolysyndactyly Syndrome

  • Blepharoptosis: Droopy upper eyelid. The condition may be caused by such things as stroke, brain tumor, diabetes and myasthenia gravis.
  • Broad thumbs:
  • Eye symptoms: Symptoms affecting the eye
  • Frontal bossing:
  • Head symptoms: Symptoms affecting the head or brain
  • Large head: When a person has a larger than average head
  • Ophthalmoplegia: A disorder that is characterised by the paralysis of the eye muscles
  • Plagiocephaly: Flattening of one side of an infant's skull at birth. It may be caused by insufficient space inside the womb. The anomaly improves with age.
  • Polydactyly: A rare deformity where the hands and/or feet have extra digits.
  • Syndactyly: Fusion of one or more fingers or toes. The digits may be joined simply by skin or the actual bones may be fused. The fusion may involve the whole digit or only a portion of it.
