Glossary for Fallot syndrome

  • Arrhythmias: Irregularity in the heart's beating rhythm.
  • Bleeding disorders: Any disorder leading to bleeding or bruising.
  • Breathing difficulties: Various types of breathing difficulty (dyspnea).
  • Infective endocarditis: The infection and inflammation of the inner heart layers, especially the valves. The infection is usually bacterial. The condition carries a high risk of death.
  • Poor feeding: Poor feeding (mostly in infants)
  • Tetralogy of Fallot: A condition which is characterized pulmonary stenosis, interventricular septal defect, right ventricular hypertrophy and dextroposition of the aorta
  • Ventricular septal defect: An abnormal connection between the 2 lower chambers (ventricles) of the heart.
  • Weight loss: Loss of body weight.
