Inheritance and Genetics of Eye conditions

Eye conditions: Genetics Information

Genetics of Eye conditions: With the recent advances in molecular genetic techniques, new genes that cause eye disease are rapidly being identified, such as for those diseases discussed here. In many instances, these findings allow researchers to develop innovative strategies for preventing or slowing the progress of genetic eye diseases. About inheritance and genetics:

Inheritance of Eye conditions refers to whether the condition is inherited from your parents or "runs" in families. The level of inheritance of a condition depends on how important genetics are to the disease. Strongly genetic diseases are usually inherited, partially genetic diseases are sometimes inherited, and non-genetic diseases are not inherited. For general information, see Introduction to Genetics.
