Treatments for Chronic myelogenous leukemia
- Tyrosinase kinase inhibitors - Imatinib, Dasatinib, and Nilotinib. Imatinib is the first line therapy for many people, and those unsuitable for stem cell transplantation
- Stem Cell transplantation- peripheral or bone marrow
- Chemotherapy - used when tyrosine kinase inhibitors stop working or with stem cell transplantation
- Interferon - used when other drugs don't work, or when they can't be used, such as in pregnancy
- Radiotherapy - rarely used to shrink splenomegaly or treat enlarged nodes
