Glossary for Chédiak-Higashi syndrome

  • Brain symptoms: Symptoms affecting the brain
  • Chediak-Higashi Syndrome: A rare genetic disorder where both parents need to be carriers for it to be passed on. Sufferers have reduced skin pigmentation to the point of albinism in some cases. Characteristic white cell abnormalities increase bleeding problems and increase the risk of infections.
  • Fever: Elevation of the body temperature above the normal 37 degrees celsius
  • Incoordination: lack of coordination, especially of normal voluntary and harmonious control of muscular movement
  • Leukemia: Cancer of the blood cells, usually white blood cells.
  • Lymphoma: Cancer involving lymph nodes and the immune system.
  • Photophobia: An exaggerated or irrational fear of light.
  • Weakness: Symptoms causing weakness of the body
