Glossary for Adie syndrome

  • Anisocoria: Where the diameters of the two eye pupils are different.
  • Dilated pupils: A condition characterized by the dilatation of the pupils of the eye
  • Guillain-Barre Syndrome: Rare autoimmune disorder destroying nerve function lead to weakness and paralysis.
  • Hyperopia: Far-sightedness often requiring glasses
  • Hyporeflexia: A decreased reflex of the muscles
  • Miller Fisher Syndrome: Autoimmune nerve condition.
  • Mydriasis: A condition characterized by the prolonged and abnormal dilation of the pupil
  • Neurological disorder: diseases affecting the central and peripheral nervous system
  • Paresis: A medical term for partial paralysis, impaired movement or partial loss of movement. The term is usually used in reference to the limbs but can be used to refer to the eye and stomach or to simply mean weakness.
  • Photophobia: An exaggerated or irrational fear of light.
  • Pupil abnormalities: is also called anisocoria. It is an alteration in the size and reactivity to light of the pupil
  • Temporal arteritis: Inflamed head artery causing headache.
